Litsea cubeba essential oil, otherwise known as May Chang oil, has been used in ancient Chinese medicine for centuries. Traditionally it has treated pain and digestive problems, but today we know that Litsea cubeba oil hosts a whole multitude of benefits!

Litsea cubeba belongs to the Lauraceae family and produces small white or pale yellow flowers that develop into pepper-like fruits. The tree is also referred to as “Chinese Pepper” or “Mountain Pepper.” Although it is native to Southern China and other parts of tropical Southeast Asia, it is most widely cultivated in Japan, Taiwan, and China. It has a rich history in Chinese medicine and has now made its way to the western world for its magical healing properties.
