Ocimum basilicum L. belongs to the Lamiaceae or mint plant family. Known as the “King of Herbs” with its naturally sweet, warm, spicy and herbal smell, basil oil can be used in many different ways. When concentrated into an essential oil, basil becomes a potent anti-bacterial that also stimulates our nervous system and boosts our adrenal cortex.
